5-Acre Fire Burning in Santa Cruz Mountains 100% Contained

A 5-acre fire burning on the Santa Cruz mountains Friday afternoon, right on the border between Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties, is now 100 percent contained, a Cal Fire division chief said.

The fire was reported at about 4 p.m. near Croy Ridge and Summit roads in the Mount Madonna area, Cal Fire Santa Cruz area Division Chief Rich Sampson said.

It was being handled by the Santa Clara County division of Cal Fire with assistance from the Santa Cruz division.

Crews will be out there all night and into Saturday to mop up the area.

No cause has been determined, and no injuries were reported.
