An 82-year-old Oakland man remains in critical condition after he was brutally beaten just two blocks from his home on Christmas Eve.

Phuc Pham, a father of seven and grandfather of 13, can't eat or talk due to his injuries.

"He's a hardworking man and he's a really responsible father, and now he's in the hospital," said Anh Pham, his daughter.

The assault resulted in serious injuries to Pham, including multiple facial fractures and broken ribs. His family is pleading with the public to help them identify who is responsible for putting Pham in critical condition.

Police said whoever is responsible is clearly dangerous preying on someone as frail as Pham.

His family has been left shattered. They want whoever is responsible behind bars.

"I can't believe people could do that to an 82-year-old man," Anh said. "If there is a person who did that to my father he deserves to get prosecuted."
