A Wedding Amid Occupy Oakland Protest

The ceremony -- planned for a long time -- will happen on Friday, Oct. 21.

The Occupy Oakland tent city might get in the way of some visitors, but it won't slow down a long-planned wedding at Oakland City Hall.

Latrina Rhinehart and Matheo Chavez are sticking with their plan to get married on Friday despite the unanticipated extra witnesses. It sort of fits, the couple says, because Chavez is a nephew to Cesar Chavez, the legendary founder of the Farm Workers' Union and notable 1960s (and on) protester and civil rights leader.

"Sacrifice is the backbone of making progress," Matheo Chavez, who supports the Occupy movement, said. "It's really fitting -- my family background and to have (Occupy) in the background of my wedding pictures."

Protesters said they were honored to be included in the ceremony.
