AC Transit Approves Rapid Bus Line

East Bay Rapid Bus Line Gets The Green Light

It's a bus line that thinks it's a railway.

And now, it's getting the green light in the East Bay.

The AC Transit board has approved a $152 million rapid bus line from downtown Oakland to the San Leandro BART station.

The Bay Area News Group reports, bus-only lanes and bus stations on elevated street medians will be built along the 9.5-mile-long route.

Buses should arrive every five minutes Monday through Friday.

The route stretches from Telegraph Avenue, Broadway, and International Boulevard.

Construction is set to begin in 2014.

The entire line should be up and running by 2016.
