Bus riders in the East Bay have a new way to get around.

AC Transit is introducing 16 new state-of-the-art coaches.

The buses include free Wi-Fi, individual reading lamps, low  floors, overhead storage and high back seats.

They were built in Hayward.

Right now, they serve Line E, connecting Berkeley and San Francisco, but eventually there will be a total of 54 new AC Transit coaches to serve the Bay Area.

The timing couldn’t be better. AC Transit said ridership this year has increased by about 20 percent.
