East Bay Fair To Signal The Start Of Summer

The Alameda County Fair opens today

The East Bay kicks off the start of summer with the opening of the Alameda County Fair.

But this year is a little different.  The fair is celebrating its' 100th anniversary.  Organizers say this year's theme will honor the many generations of people who have helped shape the event. And as an added bonus, anyone aged 100 or older will get free admission.

There is also a small change with the live entertainment. A different singer and group will be performing each night. The Tower of Power headlines opening day. Gates will open starting at 11am today. The event runs from Tuesday through Sunday, and it will end on July 8th. The fair will be held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.

The city will also hold a special 100th anniversary parade this Saturday.
