One of San Francisco’s most famous and popular parks will shut down Tuesday, likely through the end of the year.

Alamo Park, known for its stunning views of the bay and its proximity to the Painted Ladies Victorian homes often featured in the 1980s TV series “Full House,” will close for nearly seven months.

That’s because San Francisco Park and Recreation crews are installing a park-wide irrigation system replacement, building a new wheelchair-accessible restroom, and creating new landscaping, according to project manager, Marvin Yee.

This $4.3 million project is paid for through two bonds in 2008 and 2012, and a $1.6 million grant from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

The park is expected to reopen in winter of 2016 or early 2017.
