Alleged Chop-Shop Raided in Santa Cruz County

The Santa Cruz Auto Theft Task Force raided an alleged chop-shop Tuesday morning in the Boulder Creek area of unincorporated Santa Cruz County, according to a sheriff's lieutenant.

Members of the task force raided an address in the 400 block of Diane Way at 9 a.m.

The search turned up 13 stolen motorcycles, trucks, cars, and a trailer that had been stolen from a church in Mountain View, according to sheriff's Lt. Kelly Kent, and many of them were in the process of being dismantled.

Some of the stolen vehicles were traced back to Oakland, Santa Clara County and Santa Cruz County, according to Kent.

Julia Cabibi, 31, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Sheriff Jim Hart in a statement called the investigation a quick response to a tip from an alert community member.
