Alleged Operator of Myredbook.com in FBI Custody After Missing Court Appearance

The FBI has located one of the alleged proprietors of a sex listings website who missed his scheduled appearance in federal court Friday.

Eric "Red" Omuro, 53, is now in the custody of the FBI after he failed to show up in the courtroom of U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins at 9:30 a.m. to identify an attorney and enter a plea, according to FBI spokesman Peter Lee.

Omuro, a Mountain View resident, was released from custody Wednesday on a $500,000 unsecured bond. Judge Cousins issued a bench warrant for his arrest when he failed to appear in court this morning.

Omuro is accused of running the sex listings websites MyRedBook.com and SFRedBook.com with the assistance of codefendant Annemarie Lanoce, 40, of Rocklin.

The websites were seized by the FBI and U.S. Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday and Omuro and Lanoce were arrested.

An indictment unsealed that day accuses Omuro of using mail and the Internet to facilitate prostitution and laundering more than $5 million he took in by running the site.

Lee said it is up to Judge Cousins to decide when Omuro will next appear in court.
