Amber Alert Canceled After 6-Year-Old Girl Reportedly Abducted From San Jose Found Safe

A local Amber Alert was called off after a 6-year-old girl was found safe after reportedly being abducted from San Jose early Wednesday morning.

California Highway Patrol said that Ava Bar-Illan was abducted from her house in San Jose at 1:30 a.m. She was last seen wearing a blue Minnie Mouse shirt. Stockton police were able to locate the girl. Officials activated the alert for San Joaquin County only.

Police arrested the two suspects connected to the case around 6 a.m. Thursday. They were identified as 39-year-old Maurice Cheadle and 35-year-old Dawn Atkisson. They were reportedly driving a Chevrolet Cruz with the California license plate number 6VUS072.

According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's office Cheadle is Ava's mother's ex-boyfriend. He is currently dating Atkisson, they said.
