Amtrak Train Strikes 2 in Fremont, Car Overturned

Two people were taken to the hospital with major injuries after their car was struck by an Amtrak train in Fremont.

The injuries were reported Sunday just before 10:40 p.m. at Dusterberry Way near Peralta Boulevard, according to a statement from Fremont Fire Battalion Chief Rich Dickinson.

The white car was overturned next to the train tracks, but it was unclear how it ended up like that.

When firefighters arrived, one person was trapped and unconscious inside the car, and the other person was outside the vehicle.

The two patients were taken to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley with major injuries.
