Annual Cherry Blossom Festival Draws Large Crowds to Celebrates Japanese Culture

April showers didn’t put a damper on the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco’s historic Japantown on Saturday.

This is the event’s 49th year celebrating Japanese culture. NBC Bay Area’s Robert Handa was on site, mingling with the crowd.

Every year, more than 200,000 attendees come to watch dancing and indulge in authentic Japanese cuisine.

The festivities are slated to continue Sunday and next weekend, when the Grand Parade will start at City Hall and work its way into Japantown.
