Antioch: Man Arrested After Allegedly Kidnapping, Sexually Assaulting Woman

A registered sex offender is behind bars after allegedly kidnapping a woman from a K-Mart parking lot in Antioch and sexually assaulting her on Monday, police said Wednesday.

The woman told police that around 2:30 p.m. Monday, a man approached her in the parking lot of the K-Mart at 3625 E. 18th St. and brandished a gun.

He forced the woman into a car and had her drive to several spots throughout Antioch where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

At some point during the abduction, the victim was able to escape and ran to a nearby home where she called police.

An investigation led police to 43-year-old Kevin Harvey, a registered sex offender who lives in Antioch.

The day after the kidnapping, Harvey allegedly brandished a handgun at the Somersville Towne Center at 2556 Somersville Road, police said.

Responding officers captured him as he tried to run away. He was carrying the same gun allegedly used in the abduction and assault, according to police.

Police said Harvey was arrested and taken to county jail in Martinez where he is being held on $1.4 million bail.
