Armed Robbery Investigation Prompts Fremont School Lockdown

An armed robbery investigation in Fremont's Sundale neighborhood on Friday prompted police to play one school under lockdown and urge students at two other campuses to shelter in place, officials said.

Officers responded to an armed robbery report, involving a woman carrying a purse, at 12:30 p.m. They spotted a suspect vehicle fleeing into the neighborhood near Walters Junior High, police said.

Police said the suspects exited the vehicle and fled. Two suspects were taken into custody, but two others were able to get away, prompting the hunt.

Walters Junior High School on Logan Drive was placed under lockdown as a precaution. Students at Brier Elementary and John F. Kennedy High schools were ordered to shelter in place during the investigation, police said.

The lockdown and shelter in place orders were lifted just before 4 p.m.

The two outstanding suspects are described as a male in a black shirt and a female in a crewneck, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
