The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Tuesday armed robbery at a restaurant in Atherton.

Deputies responded at 6:44 p.m. to Bonsai Sushi in the 3400 block of El Camino Real in response to a reported armed robbery.

Deputies said a man entered the restaurant, simulated he had a gun beneath his jacket and demanded money.

The suspect pushed an employee to the ground, grabbed the restaurant's cash register and fled the scene.

He was last seen running north on El Camino Real.

The suspect is described as a black man wearing a hooded jacket and black pants.
