Arraignment Postponed a Third Time for Woman in Fatal Menlo Park DUI Crash

An arraignment has been postponed a third time for a woman accused of killing a Menlo Park couple in a alcohol-fueled crash Thursday night, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Wednesday.

Marjorie Reitzell, 53, has not been medically cleared by the jail medical staff, Wagstaffe said. The case, which was set to for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, will be re-scheduled for Thursday afternoon in San Mateo County Superior Court, he said.

Reitzell is accused of plowing down a Menlo Park couple that was out walking their pet Chihuahua around 7 p.m. near the bike lane on Chilco Road in Menlo Park.

Kamal Singh, 45, and Balbir Singh, 50, were hit from behind and were propelled into the air, according to Menlo Park police. They both died at the scene.

Prosecutors say that after hitting the Singhs, Reitzell, whose blood alcohol level was allegedly twice the legal limit, continued driving and struck a car carrying four teenagers, causing minor injuries. She then crashed into a tree where first responders found her. Police took her into custody then.

Wagstaffe said earlier in the week that Monday Reitzell had complained of chest pains.
