Police in Hayward say that an arrest in the case of a missing nursing student is possible in the near future.
Over the weekend police released a statement saying that they are processing evidence and were close to narrowing in on a suspect in the disappearance of 27-year-old Michelle Le.
“Some of the results that have been completed have assisted us in reducing suspicion on some persons,” said Lt. R. Keener of Hayward police, in a statement.
“It is our belief that through the processing of evidence and continued interviews, we will know the identity of the suspect/suspects responsible for Michelle's disappearance in the not too distant future,” Keener added.
Police ruled the case to be a homicide in June.
“We believe that she's alive,” said Thuy Le, Le’s aunt. “We're hoping that she comes back to us very, very soon.”
Le has been missing for over two months after she disappeared during a break from her clinical rotation at Kaiser Permanente Hayward Medical Center.

Police later found her car parked nearby, with blood inside, but no sign of Le.
Since the disappearance few details have emerged as to what happened to her and Le’s family has offered up a reward, as well as organizing many fundraisers including a recent one on July 30.
“We want her home,” said Krystine Dinh, Le’s cousin. “We want her back with us and if not back with us, then justice to be served.”
Le, who grew up in San Diego and graduated from Mt. Carmel High before moving to Hayward.
