Attack Meant to Expose Poor Security Says Alleged PlayStation, Xbox Hacker

One of the people claiming responsibility for hacking Xbox Live and the PlayStation Networks on Christmas Day has spoken out and has shown his face.

An alleged hacker said his name is Ryan and is from Finland. He also confirmed he belongs to the hacking group Lizard Squad.

Ryan said the attack was meant to expose poor security and he feels no remorse for the hack that disrupted gaming systems worldwide.

"These companies make tens of millions every month from just their subscriber fees, and that doesn't even include, like purchases made by their customers," Ryan said. "They should have more than enough funding to be able to protect against these attacks."

Ryan added as few as three-to-four people carried out the attack, mostly for their own amusement.

On Sunday morning, Microsoft and Sony both said full service has been restored to gamers.
