Attempted Kidnapping in Redwood City Was Fabricated: PD

A woman who told Redwood City police that someone tried to kidnap her Monday night while she was getting things from her car was lying to "gain attention from family members," police said.

After interviewing her about the so-called attempted kidnapping that she said occurred at about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Clinton Street and Lincoln Avenue was "fabricated," according to a statement approved by Lt. Sean Hart.

She had originally told police she yelled as one suspect tried to kidnap her,  but that person took off in a dark-colored vehicle driven by another person, police said.

Police did not say whether she would face any charges.
