Another key hurdle has reportedly been cleared in BART’s expansion into the South Bay.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports the Federal Transit Administration has now approved the second leg of BART’s planned extension to San Jose.
This means that "phase two" can move into the development phase, even though the funding has yet to be worked out.
The second leg would extend to Santa Clara.
BART’s first extension to Berryessa in San Jose is now ahead of schedule - with the Fremont-to-Warm Springs leg expected to open this summer.
