Baggage Tug Hits Delta Plane at SFO

Delta Airlines says a Cincinnati, Ohio-bound flight at San Francisco International Airport had to be deplaned after a baggage tug hit the aircraft.

Passenger Bob Meyer said two minutes before the plane was supposed to take off, he felt a big jolt. He said the plane shook.

"Luckily they were able to get us off the plane, you know, it would have been racing through my head the whole time, if they had thought, you know, it was okay to fly the plane. You know, is it really safe to fly the plane. You know, it’s  nighttime out, something that big hit the plane, you know, I’m sure everybody out there was worried about something like that happening. You don’t want to crash land after something like that just happened over the weekend," Myers told NBC Bay Area.

The flight was scheduled to leave at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said the plane was at the gate when the tug accidentally hit the nose gear.

There was no evidence of damage, but Durrant said Delta put the 138 passengers on another aircraft out of an abundance of caution.

The next flight left at 1:59 a.m. and arrived safely in Cincinnati at 6 a.m.
