Battle of Gold Clubs As SF Gold Club Sues San Jose Gold Club

There are two Gold Clubs in the Bay Area -- one too many for the SF Gold Club.

It hasn't been open long, but the controversial "bikini bar" in downtown San Jose, the Gold Club, has fallen into trouble with a different Gold Club.

The Gold Club San Francisco -- a SoMa gentlemen's club and restaraunt -- has filed suit against the San Jose Gold Club, alleging copyright infringement from the similarly named but unaffiliated fledgling club, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

The two clubs are both gentlemen's clubs, with sultry music and dancing. San Francisco's has been around for decades, the lawsuit alleges, and the new San Jose club is trying to cash in on the older club's name.

Lawyers for the San Francisco Gold Club want the San Jose upstart to stop using the name -- and to change its logo, which they say is too close to the San Francisco logo, the newspaper reported.

A company called PML Clubs Inc. operates the San Jose Gold Club, as well as other Gold Clubs on the East Coast, the newspaper reported.
