Bay Area Chefs, Restaurants Named James Beard Awards Winners

Bay Area chefs and restaurants have emerged victorious at the 2015 James Beard Awards, known as the "Oscars of food."

The James Beard Foundation announced the winners of this year's awards on Monday at a ceremony in Chicago.

A16, an Italian restaurant in San Francisco, took home the title of Outstanding Wine Program, while Rajat Parr of Mina Group, also from San Francisco, is this year's Outstanding Wine, Beer or Spirits Professional.

Jessica Largey, chef de cuisine at Manresa in Los Gatos, nabbed the Rising Star Chef of the Year honor, and husband and wife Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski of San Francisco's State Bird Provisions share the Outstanding Chef - West title. Their neighboring restaurant The Progress was also nominated for Best New Restaurant, an award that State Bird Provisions took home in 2013.
