Bay Area Police Represent at Dallas Funeral

Representatives from Bay Area police departments were in Dallas on Wednesday as funerals began being held for the five officers slain last week by a sniper upset over how black men are being killed by police.

San Rafael police tweeted out pictures from Texas, showing the full auditoriums where community members laid the Dallas officers to rest.

San Francisco police also sent a contingent to Dallas, as did police from Pittsburg, Concord and Vallejo. San Jose police sent six Honor Guard police officers to four separate services in Dallas this week.

The officers killed were:  Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson and Patrick Zamarripa.

The man who shot them, Micah Xavier Johnson, was killed on July 7 during the police standoff, that came after a mostly peaceful protest by the Black Lives Matter movement against the police killings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota.
