Bay Area Red Cross Volunteers Help Colo. Relief Efforts

Three Red Cross volunteers from the Bay Area are in Colorado helping with relief efforts, and more are expected to be sent.

Local offices are just waiting for the call from Colorado authorities to find out exactly what kind of aid is needed.

"All of these kinds of disaster situations, whether it is a house fire that only affects one family or a massive disaster that affects a region, either way, it’s always heartbreaking and the red cross is there just to make that journey a little easier and help out as much as we can," Red Cross volunteer Virginia Hart said.

A volunteer from the East Bay said the shelters are packed with families, and also, many pets. She said people were forced to evacuate so quickly, and some do not even have identification.

Evacuees do not know yet when the roads will reopen, and when they will be able to return to their homes.
