The Bay Area Revelations team takes a look back at the stories and people who lived and survived the Summer Of Love in 1967. Watch "Bay Area Revelations: Summer of Love, 50 Years Later," Saturday, June 10 at 8 p.m. on NBC Bay Area.

Exploring 'Summer of Love'

Bay Area independent filmmaker Jack O’Connell captured the zeitgeist of 60s America with “Revolution,” his documentary of the San Francisco hippie counter-culture during 1967. The hippie spirit of Haight-Ashbury is alive and well in the documentary, shot in the heart of San Francisco during the groovy days when hair was long, love was free and acid abounded. Featuring concert footage of Country Joe and the Fish and other bands, Connell’s film captures the counterculture’s scope, from impassioned leaders such as Rev. Cecil Williams down to ordinary freaks on the street.
