The Bay Area Revelations team takes a look back at how the Bay Area became one of the biggest war machines and the heart of the anti-war movement.. Watch "Bay Area Revelations: War, Protest & Prosperity," Sunday, September 17 at 9 p.m. on NBC Bay Area.
Bay Area independent filmmaker Jack O’Connell captured the zeitgeist of 60s America with “Revolution,” his documentary of the San Francisco hippie counter-culture during 1967. The hippie spirit of Haight-Ashbury is alive and well in the documentary, shot in the heart of San Francisco during the groovy days when hair was long, love was free and acid abounded. Featuring concert footage of Country Joe and the Fish and other bands, Connell’s film captures the counterculture’s scope, from impassioned leaders such as Rev. Cecil Williams down to ordinary freaks on the street.
