A woman found unconscious and not breathing near Oakland's Lake Merritt on Tuesday morning has died and her boyfriend has been arrested, police said today.
The woman was found in the 1500 block of Lakeside Drive at 6:10 a.m. suffering from major head trauma. She was initially reported to be alive, but later died from her injuries.
Police have arrested her boyfriend in connection with her death, and the assault appears to have come during a domestic dispute, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.
The names of the victim and the suspect had not yet been released tonight.
