Berkeley's Claremont Hotel on Sale for $80 Million

Iconic resort hits the market for the second time in a year.

Berkeley's iconic Claremont Hotel Club and Spa is on sale again, less than a year after it was acquired by Paulson & Co. and Winthrop Realty Trust.

The resort nestled in the Oakland hills will be sold along with three others in the company's portfolio to bring the properties out of bankruptcy, according to Bloomberg.

The resort is being sold for $80 million. It was purchased in 2011 after its previous owner filed for bankruptcy.

The sparkling white hotel has become an icon over the years for its scenic views, its celebrity appeal and its storied history.
