Berkeley Residents Note “Metallic” Taste of Drinking Water

Berkeley residents are complaining of a funny taste and smell in their tap water.

The drinking water supply lately has been described by many as having a "metallic" flavor. Some have likened it to the taste of raw meat or other animal parts.

According to Berkeleyside, the change in taste and odor is because the East Bay Municipal Utilities District has been drawing water from the top instead of the bottom of the Pardee Reservoir since Thursday. The unpleasant flavor and smell, attributed to warmer water and algae, are expected to go away by the weekend.
