Caltrans crews are inspecting an Oakland highway overcrossing Thursday afternoon after a big-rig hit it and flipped, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big-rig was heading south on Interstate Highway 880 when it hit the 23rd Avenue overcrossing just after 2 p.m., CHP officials said.
The truck's driver was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. Two lanes of the highway were closed to remove the truck and inspect the overcrossing for any structural damage.
The closure is expected to last into the evening commute and drivers are advised to take Interstate Highway 580 instead if possible, CHP officials said.
