San Francisco Giants pitcher Randy Johnson leaves the game against the Houston Astros in the fourth inning, in a baseball game on Sunday, July 5, 2009 in San Francisco.
Randy Johnson grabbed his left shoulder after an awkward swing in the bottom of the 3rd inning, clearly feeling some discomfort. He stayed in the game until the top of the 4th, when he committed a throwing error and once again reached for the shoulder.
Johnson left the game after 3 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits, and the Giants lost to the Houston Astros 7-1.
The Big Unit would not talk much about his shoulder, saying only that he will have an MRI on Monday.
Houston starter Roy Oswalt baffled the Giants for eight innings, allowing just one run on three hits. Rich Aurilia provided the only offense for San Francisco, blasting a solo home run to left in the bottom of the eighth.
Despite losing on Sunday, the Giants took two out of three games from the Astros. They open up a three-game series against the Florida Marlins on Monday night at AT&T Park.
