Bizarre Scene in Fremont Leads to Two Arrests

A man is in jail and a teenage girl is undergoing a psychiatric  evaluation after an altercation early this morning in Fremont's Warm Springs neighborhood, a police spokeswoman said.
Officers responded to Lundy Terrace at about 1:10 a.m. after  receiving a report of an outdoor disturbance involving two men and a juvenile female, Fremont police Officer Geneva Bosques said.
The officers spotted two men matching the caller's description in  the area of Franciscan Court and Fernald Street, less than a block from Lundy Terrace, Bosques said.
The men -- 21-year-old Michael Watts, of Willits, and a Milpitas  man in his early 20s -- were making derogatory comments and verbally challenging the officers as they approached, Bosques said.
Officers found a replica firearm without the required orange  plastic tip in Watts' jacket pocket, she said.
Bosques said the Milpitas man told officers he didn't have a weapon, but said, "If I did, I would take it out on you." He was not arrested, she said.
Watts, who smelled of alcohol, was arrested and put in the backof  the patrol car, where he began to bang his head on the window, the officer said.
He was then strapped in a wrap for his safety, but managed to undo the chest straps, Bosques said. After officers re-wrapped Watts, he elbowed an officer in the chest twice as he was being put back in the patrol car, she  said.
The teenage girl believed to have been involved in the disturbance, a 17-year-old Fremont resident, was found at a home nearby assaulting a family member, Bosques said.
Officers entered the home and followed the girl to her room, where they restrained her as she threw punches at them, Bosques said.
The girl was arrested on suspicion of battery on an officer and resisting arrest, Bosques said. She was placed on a psychiatric hold and will be evaluated for 72 hours.
Watts was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on charges of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and altering an imitation firearm.
