A body found floating in a pond at or near Sharp Park Golf Course in Pacifica today is being investigated as a suspicious death, San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault said.
Foucrault said the body was reported to him shortly after noon.
Greg Ritschy, a golf professional at the course, said he did not know who had alerted authorities to the discovery but said a golfer had told him she saw police cars at the northwest corner of the golf course.
Ritschy said around 1:45 p.m. the police activity is happening on the ocean side of the golf course, about a half-mile from the clubhouse.
He said the golf course remains open this afternoon and golfers' play has not been affected.
