Authorities say the human remains found behind an Oakland high school last month belong to an 18-year-old former student.

The remains of Johnikka Jackson were found near a crude shelter made of wood and sheets in a canyon behind Skyline High School. Some students came upon the bones Nov. 7 and brought them to the principal's office.

It's still unclear how Jackson died. Police say they're still trying to determine if foul play was involved.

Jackson's father, John Jackson of San Francisco, says he filed a missing persons report after not hearing from her over the summer. The teen was living with an aunt while attending Skyline, but left before graduation and had been taking classes at Laney College

  • Mike Ice Sunday, Dec 28 at 10:04 AM FLAG COMMENT Only in Oakland can the students die behind the school and no one knows. Thank you Jerry Brown. Is Johnikkka a boy or a girl?
