Born a Perfect 10

The calendar said 10/10/10 this weekend and that made for lots of lucky occasions such as weddings.

Births on 10/10/10 are also seen as lucky, but those are a little harder to plan.

It did happen of course at hospitals all over the Bay Area and in one case in the South Bay the child was born in extra ten-type way.

At Kaiser Permanente's Santa Clara Medical Center one baby was not only born on the date, but also at 10:10 a.m.

Rafael Hondl was due on 10/9, but held out for the binary date instead.

His parents Marjorie Terrell and Chris Hondl, of Los Altos, only arrived at the hospital an hour earlier so his delivery was on the quick side of things.

Because of the immediacy, they took Marjorie to the only available delivery room, which just happen to be Room 10.  No kidding, according to spokesman Karl Sonkin.

Sonkin said Rafael's first cry was greeted with cries of cheers from hospital staff.
