A boy was shot after trying to run away from a shooter in the Fillmore District Saturday afternoon, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Eddy Street at 4:01 p.m. to find the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza said.

Preliminary findings revealed the victim was being chased by another juvenile who shot and struck him.

The suspect fled and remains at large. There is no suspect information at this time, Esparza said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to call San Francisco police at (415) 575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411.
