Nine people were arrested, two hospitalized and three police officers injured in a series of drunken fights outside Walnut Creek night spots on Locust Street early Sunday morning, according to police.
The first fight was reported just after 1:30 a.m. on the second floor of parking garage at 1360 Locust St., above the Lark Creek restaurant, according to Lt. Steve Gorski.
One person was taken to a hospital after he was found semi-conscious on the ground and bleeding with a face wound and head injuries. Police detained two Bay Point residents, Mario and Marcos Bustamante, as they left the area in a vehicle, and arrested both on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Police believe the victim may also have assaulted the suspects, and are now reviewing security camera footage to determine how the fight started.
A short time later, just before 2 a.m., police were called to a brawl involving as many as 15 people outside Cinco de Mayo restaurant at 1372 Locust St.
Police said four or five people were actively fighting, and others were pushing and shoving each other. Some were bleeding from the face. After the group failed to obey repeated orders to stop fighting, police used pepper spray to break things up and arrested three people for fighting in public, assault and public drunkenness.
One person was taken to the hospital with facial injuries and others were treated at the scene.
At 2:25 a.m., another fight broke out at Hubcaps diner at 1548 Locust St. Police separated two groups and arrested two people who refused to leave the area on suspicion of drunkenness and disturbing the peace.
Another subject was arrested for allegedly resisting arrest. Three police officers suffered minor injuries, none of which required hospitalization.
