CHP Arrests Four After East Bay Chase

    The California Highway Patrol said the suspects were dumping papers and drugs out of the windows during the chase that began 2:30 a.m. starting in Berkeley and continuing past westbound I-80 and eastbound Highway 580, ending in Oakland about 3 a.m.. (Published Friday, Jan. 8, 2016)

    An early Friday morning car chase in the East Bay ended with four people into custody.

    The California Highway Patrol said the suspects were dumping papers and drugs out of the windows during the chase that began 2:30 a.m. starting in Berkeley and continuing past westbound I-80 and eastbound Highway 580, ending in Oakland about 3 a.m.

    The arrests came after.the driver made a U-turn and reached a dead end. IN the midst of escaping, the driver rammed several patrol cars and lost control.

    Sgt. John Koben said the suspects will likely be charged with felony evading and drug trafficking.
