A parolee punched a California Highway Patrol officer outside a California Department of Motor Vehicles office.
A dispute over a man's driver's license lead to a wild scene in Stockton Monday.
The CHP says the man, a parolee, punched one of its officers outside the DMV.
DMV workers called the police after the man apparently got angry after someone questioned the validity of his identification.
The CHP responded because the problem occurred in a state building.
When the suspect was taken outside, he punched the officer, officials said. The CHP officer subdued the suspect, who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer.
It was later determined that the suspect was on parole.
The officer was taken to a hospital for observation.
