Cal team makes it to College World Series.

Three months ago, it looked like Cal Baseball would not be back for another season. Now, they are headed to Omaha for the College World Series.

The Bears beat Dallas Baptist Sunday night, in a best of three series. Their quest for a national title starts Saturday.

It has been a bumpy season for the team. When they started practicing in the fall, they didn't know if this would be their last season.

UC Berkeley put five teams, including the baseball team, on the chopping block in the fall, saying there was not enough funding. Alumni, former players and parents all rallied around the team and in April the university announced men's baseball would be back for another season.

Cal will be joined by North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Florida, Texas and South Carolina. There are two elimination games today (Monday) to determine which teams will get the final two spots in the World Series.

This is Cal's first trip to the College World Series in 19 years.
