Cal Football Player Accused of Assault to Make First Court Appearance Monday

A Cal football player accused of assault is expected to make his first court appearance Monday.

Police said Demariay Drew attacked a man near the Cal campus. Drew has been since suspended from the team.

On Tuesday, he allegedly got in an argument with the victim and then started punching the victim in the face and kicked his dog.

Drew’s bail is set at $100,000, and Cal's athletic department said it's cooperating with Berkeley police.

Drew graduated from Livermore high school.
