Cal Football Player Injured in Locker-Room Brawl

A Cal football player is recovering from injuries after a locker-room brawl put him in the hospital.

University police said Fabiano Hale suffered unspecified injuries after the fight on Friday. The freshman from Santa Cruz was checked into the university clinic, then moved to Alta Bates Medical Center where he stayed the night.

Police are not naming the second player involved, but said they know who he is. They're also not commenting on what started the fight.

Cal Athletics issued a statement and said it is fully cooperating with the investigation.

"Our team culture is built on mutual respect for and accountability to each other," Cal Athletics said in a statement.
