A vehicle struck an 18-year-old woman near an elementary school in East San Jose Tuesday morning, a fire dispatcher said.
The collision was reported at 8:04 a.m. at Cathay Drive and Newton Avenue, located near Anthony Dorsa Elementary School. She was walking to her college when the car hit her, police said.
According to police, the driver was turning into the sun and did not see the woman in the crosswalk.
She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
