Casino M8trix to Open at 8 a.m. on 8/8

The gaming floor will be open early next Wednesday in San Jose.

Ready, set, bet!  Casino M8trix has announced its long-awaited opening day.

The card club will open next Wednesday, August 8 at 8 a.m. M8trix folks took full advantage of the "8" in their name to promote the grand opening.

The casino was supposed to open in March, but problems with gaming regulations between the owners and the city of San Jose slowed things down.

Finally, after months of negotiations, Police Chief Chris Moore gave the final stamp of approval last Friday.

M8trix owners made quick work of finishing off all the paperwork and rehiring workers. They said Friday they will be ready for customers next week.

The casino is hard to miss for South Bay drivers as it sits tall along Highway 101 in San Jose near the airport.

The shiny new facility will be great for San Jose in many ways, but it will mean the end  of the old Garden City card room on Saratoga Avenue.

San Jose can only have two card rooms within the city limits, so that means Garden City will shut down just in time for the M8trix to open.

If you want to make your last bet at Garden City, this is your last weekend to do so.

Garden City was bought out of bankruptcy five years ago by the M8trix owners who have said from the start that they planned  an upgrade.
