Celebrate Archie in the City Today

Comic book readers will join Archie, Betty and Veronica today as San Francisco's Cartoon Art Museum hosts Archie Family Fun Day.

The celebration is part of the ongoing exhibit "70 years of Archie Comics!" that pays tribute to the comic book's beloved characters, according to the museum. Archie Andrews, along with Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and Reggie, are featured in more than 40 pieces of original artwork chronicling the seven decades since the comic was first introduced.

Attendees at Archie Family Fun Day can participate in drawing activities, as well as enjoy commentary from veteran Archie Comics artist Rich Koslowski, museum representatives said. Children will also receive free Archie comic books.

The Cartoon Art Museum opens at 11 a.m. and Archie Family Fun Day festivities are included in the price of admission. The museum is located at 655 Mission St. in San Francisco.

The exhibit, which opened in July, is scheduled to run through Dec. 4.
