Children Injured in Crash on Niles Canyon Road

Highway 84 reopened early Saturday morning.

Both directions of traffic on state Highway 84 were closed for more than an hour before reopening Saturday morning near Sunol after a crash sent children and possibly others injured in the crash to the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 10:28 p.m. Friday night on Niles Canyon Road near Stony Brook Park, according to the CHP.

A two-car accident blocked both directions as the cars collided in between eastbound and westbound lanes, according to the CHP.

The roads were opened by 12:05 a.m. this morning.

Children were reportedly involved in the accident and at least one other person was injured, according to the CHP.

Ambulances arrived at the accident to bring those injured to hospitals, a CHP officer said this morning.
