City Leaders to Talk South Bay 49ers Stadium Plan

Santa Clara city leaders are set to decide Wednesday on whether to approve the design of a new San Francisco 49ers stadium in the South Bay.

The plan includes 20,000 square feet of solar panels and luxury suites that open up to grass-covered rooftops. There's even talk of 3D television and a way to order snacks and drinks from seats using touch screens.

City leaders will also weigh in on new zoning measures that would put the stadium in an entertainment zone and would include a golf club, convention center and hotels.

The proposal will be reviewed at the city planning commission meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. Another meeting is planned for Sept. 16 in case the commission needs more time.
