Coast Guard Makes Early Morning Rescue

A capsized boat off the coast of Half Moon Bay kept the Coast Guard busy this morning. Three crab fishermen were returning from a multiple day crabbing trip when the boat flipped near Kelly State Beach. When the Coast Guard arrived, the men were already pulling themselves ashore.

Investigators plan to return to the scene today to see if the boat is possibly leaking fuel into the ocean. They say while there was nothing hazardous aboard, the boat does run on diesel fuel and they need to make sure that's not leaking into the water.

Investigators are also looking into whether fatigue played a part in the accident. It's possible the captain fell asleep at the helm just before the boat capsized.
