Coast Guard Rescues Stranded Surfer From Water Below Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza

The surfer was reported safe within seven minutes of distress call.

The United States Coast Guard pulled a distressed surfer out of the water Saturday below the toll plaza of the Golden Gate Bridge, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

The surfer in distress was reported at 1:18 p.m., and firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 1:20 p.m.

By 1:25 p.m., however, the surfer had been rescued by a Coast Guard utility boat that had been in the area, according to firefighters.

No injuries were reported.
